Episode 114 (A Star Is Born)

We're hitting the gin hard this week with Bradley Cooper's A Star is Born.  We continue on with our discussion of Lady Gaga in her first major big screen performance and the casting of non-actors in pivotal roles.  Finally, we wrap this all up with our Top 5 cinematic drunks.  

Episode 113 (Carrie)

We're a little bit late for Halloween, but nevertheless, this week we go way back to 1976 for Brian De Palma's Carrie.  We're joined by Brantley this week, who we poke and prod for his thoughts on the state of the horror genre.  Then we wrap it all up with our Top 5 High School Outcasts.  

Episode 112 (The Office - U.K.)

It’s a very special episode this week after we return from our extended hiatus.  The Office premiered in the U.K. in 2001 and a few years later, one our hearts forever.  It’s the single most important piece of content in our friendship and we hope you enjoy!

Episode 111 (First Reformed)

We find religion this week with Paul Schrader's new film First Reformed featuring Ethan Hawke.  That leads us into a discussion of writers who've turned to directing (42:00), then we wrap it all up with our Top 5 Church Scenes (50:00). 

Episode 110 (BlacKkKlansman)

We're undercover this week and our target is the KKK!  We dive into the latest Spike Lee Joint BlacKkKlansman and after a brief discussion about the director, we settle a few questions about last week's Fincher Retrospective (40:30).  Finally, we wrap it up with our Top 5 Characters pretending to be someone else (46:00).

Episode 107 (2001: A Space Odyssey)

The monolith paid us a visit and we were inspired to watch Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece.  We dissect the film and discuss its enormous influence on film and pop culture.  Finally, we wrap it all up with our Top 5 scenes with little or no dialogue.  

Episode 106 (Blade Runner & Blade Runner 2049)

We're blasting some replicants away this week with a double feature of Blade Runner and the sequel Blade Runner 2049.  We compare the two, then move on to question if there are any original ideas left in Hollywood.  We wrap it all up with our Top 5 Sequels we'd like to see made.  

Episode 105 (Ant-Man and the Wasp)

It's just Jeremy and Chapin this week as Lee's on vacation in the quantum realm.  We look at Marvel Studios' newest film Ant-Man and the Wasp.  We move on to a discussion of the modern movie star and wrap it all up with our Top 5 Male/Female Duos.

Episode 104 (Sicario: Day of the Soldado)

This week we watched the follow up to Sicario, one of our favorite films of the last couple years.  Did it live up to it's predecessor?  We then revisit last week's discussion on Jaws to clear up a few remaining thoughts.  And finally, we wrap it all up with our Top 5 characters who are great at their jobs. 

Episode 103 (Jaws)

We're hitting the high seas, comparing scars and saying farwell and adieu to some fair Spanish ladies!  This week we revisted Jaws, a movie we unamiously find one of the best ever made.  We wonder how the film would fair in today's fast paced world and finally wrap it up with our Top 5 movies that had no business being good. 

Episode 102 (Hereditary)

We saw the new(ish) horror film Hereditary in theaters.  The film's been wooing critics and we expore if it lives up to the hype.  Finally, we move on to our Top 5 worst cinematic parents. 

Episode 101 (Jurassic Park - The 25th Anniversary)

Welcome to Jurassic Park!  It's been 25 years since the monumental, record breaking cultural phenomenon changed movies forever.  We chat about its impact on us and the film industry.  That leads us into a debate over visual effects and their use in modern blockbusters.  Finally, we wrap it all up with our Top 5 cinematic worlds we'd love to live in.

Episode 100 (The Deer Hunter, Marvel, Top 5s of the decade)

Our 100th episode!  We've stopped and started a few times since our Inception in 2010.  But we've finally made it to 100!  We take a look back at The Deer Hunter, an important film for the three of us.  Next, with the help of a special suprise guest, we break down Marvel's most recent works Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther. Finally, we wrap it all up with our Top 5 of the 2010s.  

Episode 99 (The Shape of Water)

We get wet this week with 2017's Best Picture winner/fish porno The Shape of Water.  We move on to a brief discussion of Hollywood's love affair with itself.  And finally, we wrap it all up with, you guessed it, our Top 5 scenes involving water.  

Episode 98 (Tully)

Get your breast pumps out, cause we're reviewing Tully this week!  The latest from Jason Reitman and Diablo Cody leaves us a little divided, in particular over the "twist" ending.  We wrap it up with our Top 5 assistant/helpers.  

Episode 97 (You Were Never Really Here)

Knock, knock.  We hammer into Joaquin Phoenix's newest film You Were Never Really Here, directed by the eclectic Scottish filmmaker Lynne Ramsay.  And then we finish the episode with our top 5 characters we wouldn't want showing up at our door.  

Episode 96 (A Quiet Place)

Shhhhh...We watched A Quiet Place but we had to break our silence to give you our take.  We then transition into a larger discussion on using a lack of dialogue in movies, while finally wrapping it all up with our Top 5 Movies directed by Actors.  

Episode 95 - The Tarantino Retrospective

The first in what we hope will be our Director's Series, the Tarantino Retrospective counts down the infamous director's 8 films.  We list our favorites in order then award Fixies to Quentin's career bests.  

Episode 94 (Annihilation)

We entered the Shimmer!  And we've come out with strong opinions on Alex Garland's Annihilation.  We talk more about the the science fiction drama and how it's envolved.  Finally, we wrap it all up with our Top Five movies about fear and dread.  

Episode 93 (Phantom Thread)

This week we look at one of our ALL TIME favorite directors with Paul Thomas Anderson's newest film Phantom Thread.  We move on to a brief discussion about directors and esoteric subject matter and finally wrapping it all up with our Top Five Food Scenes. 

Episode 92 (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri)

This week we take a look at Martin McDonagh's Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.  We move on to a closer look at McDonagh and his short career in cinema.  Finally, we wrap it all up with our Top 5 Bad Movies by Directors We Love.  

Episode 91 (Baby Driver)

We did it!  Two episodes within a week!  We chat about Baby Driver and Edgar Wright's career in general.  We then switch gears into a discussion about Netflix's The Cloverfield Paradox and the future of film on streaming services.  We wrap it all up with our top 5 bar scenes.

Lee, Chapin and Tyson try to uncover if the new reboot of the Spider-Man franchise is any better than Sam Raimi’s film. They discuss whether or not there was any point in rebooting the franchise in the first place. Then it’s their top 5 performances they didn’t expect to be good.

Episode 84 (Moonrise Kingdom)

Lee, Chapin and Tyson argue over Wes Anderson and his new film Moonrise Kingdom. They talk about one of their (one time) favorites, Edward Norton and the trajectory of his career. Then they struggle through their top 5 camping films of all time.

Chapin, Brantley and Tyson discuss the much anticipated Prometheus, the “prequel” to Ridley Scott’s acclaimed Alien. They will discuss on whether or not the film is actually a prequel at all. Then it’s their top 5 movies with a lot to live up to.

This week Jeremy and Brantley threw off the gloves and bloodied each other up over the new Sean Willams Scott film Goon. They then lost some teeth over debating the pro’s and con’s of on demand distribution. Then they served 5 minute major while giving a list of their top 5 lovable on screen idiots.

Episode 74 (The Hunger Games)

Lee, Chapin and Tyson fed the box-office meter this weekend and saw the much anticipated The Hunger Games. They’ll discuss their opinions on the film, Jennifer Lawrence and adaptations in general before getting to their top 5 survival films.

Episode 73 (21 Jump Street)

Lee and Chapin sit down and have a discussion about the comedy 21 Jump St. They then analyze Jonah Hills unique career and top it off with top 5 bromances.

Episode 72 (Friends with Kids)

This week on the podcast Lee and Brantley discuss the new film in theaters Friends with Kids. They then discuss where they think Adam Scott’s career is going, and top it all off with top 5 writer/director/actors for one film.

Beers with Get Your Film Fix Ep. 10
