Episode 30 (Jane Eyre)

Jeremy is back! He is back just in time to discuss the adaptation of the literary classic Jane Eyre starring Mia Wasikowska and Michael Fassbender. We then go on to discuss the importance of adapting this novel, as it has been done countless times before. Then it is everyone’s new favorite segment, the fake trailer as we make up a trailer to an upcoming movie. Jeremy then briefly talks about his experience on Contraband. We finish it all off with our top 5 adaptations from novels.

Episode 29 (Battle Los Angeles)

It was quite the battle trying to find something better to see this week but the $36 million grossing Battle Los Angeles it is. In connection with the film, we talk a bit about military movies and PG-13 movies in general. Then in honor?.. of the film, we discuss our top 5 Patriotic movies.

Episode 28 (The Adjustment Bureau)

We recorded this week’s podcast on Sunday. It was just a slight adjustment that hopefully won’t cause too many ripples in our discussion of Matt Damon’s finally released film The Adjustment Bureau. We compare the film to its mind-bleep counterpart, Inception. Michael and Brantley square off in their Opposing Viewpoints Gameshow with The Killer Inside Me staring Casey Affleck. Our top 5… the best double features.

Episode 27 (Cedar Rapids, Peep World)

It’s a Get Your Film Fix first as we have an official Double Feature on hand this week. We discuss the new film in theaters, Cedar Rapids, as well as get a jump on Peep World, available On-Demand before being released in theaters.  The Oscars were last night, but rather than discuss that old news, we chose to instead look towards the future and who we expect to hear having their named called at next year’s 84th Annual Academy Awards. And not to give anything away, but we’re wrapping things up with our Top 5 Comedies that didn’t make us laugh.

Beers with Get Your Film Fix Ep. 5

Anyone thirsty? We are every five weeks or so and as a result, we’ve been forced to produce another Beers with Get Your Film Fix episode. This time we try to figure out if Brantley is actually an old man, then finally discuss the Oscar nominations and our very own Top 100 films of all time. For any sports fans out there, we recap the night of the Superbowl (Spoiler Alert: We don’t talk much about football).

Episode 26 (Another Year)

Another Podcast… this time, we discuss Another Year starring Jim Broadbent, Ruth Sheen and Lesley Manville. While this isn’t a beers episode, we still find a reason to discuss alcohol and how its portrayed in films. We also discuss alternatives to said alcohol when it comes to getting through these harsh winter months. Then, don’t worry, we didn’t forget… it’s Valentine’s Day so we’re doing our top 5 on-screen couples.

Episode 25 (Never Let Me Go)

Come complete with us as we take a peak at the much overlooked film Never Let Me Go starring the great Carey Mulligan. Mulligan is so great that we decide to talk about her career and the career of Andrew Garfield. We follow that up with a 1950’s version of Get Your Film History with Get Your Film Fix. It is all topped off with a top 5 films we wish were better. Enjoy!

Episode 24 (I am Love)

Brush up on your Italian as we take a look at the recent Italian import I Am Love staring the versatile Tilda Swinton.We then have a discussion about actors who take on a second language in a performance. We then have a Blockbuster Brantley mini review of The Mechanic. Of course this is all topped off with a top 5 about the “best”, or most memorable affairs in movie history.

Episode 23 (Buried, The Company Men)

Once again, the three of us get stuck in a confined space and have no choice but to listen to each other talk. How sometimes we long to be like Ryan Reynolds in Buried… abandoned alone in a buried coffin. In connection with Buried, we also discuss some other films that take place in one single setting. After a while away, we bring back Blockbuster Brantley’s mini-review and then top things off to everything we’re looking forward to in the new year with our top 5 most anticipated films of 2011!

Get Your Film Fix Ep. 22 (Best of 2010)

We made it through a year of movies here at Get Your Film Fix. Now in one podcast we try and sum up the best of the year. We run through best screenplay, best supporting actor and actress, best lead actor and actress, best director and of course best picture. So if you missed any films this year let our end of the year wrap up help you decide which ones to now see!

Episode 20 (True Grit)

The Coen Brothers are back in the saddle and Get Your Film Fix is along for the ride. Lee is missing, but never fear, Jeremy and Brantley are around to discuss Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon in True Grit. Then we talk about the state of modern Westerns. That is followed by and interview with film industry worker and insider Sean Yopchick as he discusses two of the biggest films of the past year that he was lucky enough to work on. And of course, it all gets topped off with the top 5 western heroes.

Episode 19 (The King's Speech)

We will try not to stammer as we discuss Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush in the awards darling,The King’s Speech. Even though we discussed The Fighter in last week’s episode, the gloves are off during our Just Effing Watch It segment as we argue about John Cassavetes’ Faces. Then we get ourselves in the holiday spirit by talking about past and present classic holiday films. We top all that off with a bow to our top 5 holiday scenes.

Episode18 (The Fighter)

“You’re Mickey Ward, You’re Mickey Ward.” Or at least Mark Wahlberg is in David O. Russell’s The Fighter. So strap on your gloves and come spar with us as we discuss The Fighter, Christian Bale’s career, and the state of method acting. As the nominations start to come out, we discuss our biggest disappointments of the year. Then we top it all off with our Raging Bull memorial list of our top 5 favorite siblings in film history.

Episode 17 (Black Swan)

This week we pirouette with Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan. We then discuss the ultra indie The Gray Area from our friends at Exterior Films. That is followed by an interview with The Gray Area’s director Chapin Hemmingway and Producer Tyson Balcomb. We finish the podcast off with our top 5 adult performances by one time child actors.

Episode 16 (127 Hours)

Grab your climbing gear and don’t forget to grab your Swiss Army knife-you know in case you need to cut off your arm-and join us as we discuss Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours. Then we take time to honor Sally Menke, an individual who will be sorely missed in the film community, and we discuss just how important the editor is. Then we tackle the 1940’s with Get Your Film History with Get Your Film Fix! We wrap it all up by discussing our top 5 films that follow up a director’s Best Director Oscar.

Let the inappropriate movie conversation begin! We grab some beers and just ramble nonsensically about whatever comes to our minds, which includes Mad Men, Jimmy Johnson and movies that are good because they are bad. Enjoy!

Episode 15 (Due Date)

Jeremy is back and we discuss Todd Philips latest comedy Due Date. Finally get to your Just Effing watch it segment and talk about A Man for All Seasons.  Lee does his best impression of a Blockbuster Brantley’s Mini Review. And we end with our Top 5 Road Movies.

Episode 14 (Conviction)

An innocent man in prison for eighteen years warranted the making of a movie so it certainly warrants a discussion of said movie.  The film also brings with it an interesting development surrounding the on-going Oscar competition between Hilary Swank and Annette Bening. We’re going to talk about why people talking during movies is ruining the theater going experience and whether or not 3D can save it. Topping things off is our top five performances based on true stories.

Episode 13 (Hereafter)

Apropos  of Halloween, we are discussing the afterlife with Clint Eastwood’s newest directorial achievement Hereafter. We then take time to talk about independent filmmaking and interview Stephen Parkhurst after he has recently finished an indie in Portland ME. We top it all of with our top 5 scariest scenes in films. Happy Halloween!

Episode 12 (Red)

Aging stars and huge explosions… no we aren’t going to talk about The Expendables again but rather those Retired and Extremely Dangerous ex-CIA agents in RED.  Lee and Jeremy square off in an opposing viewpoints debate on Michael Haneke’s The White Ribbon and we discuss our top five most irritating side characters.

Episode 11 (It's Kind of a Funny Story)

This week we talk about the new Zach Galifinakis, Keir Gilchrist collaboration (They’ve worked together before right?). We also revisit our segment of Get Your Film History with Get Your Film Fix and discuss the 1930s. And in honor of It’s Kind of a Funny Story, we’ll share our top 5 odd couples.

Episode 10 (The Social Network)

Another one of our most anticipated films of the year has finally arrived. The Social Network, directed by David Fincher and starring Jesse Eisenberg will the the topic of our 10th episode! We’ll also air Brantley’s discussion with Sam Baltrusis of loadedgunboston.com, discuss The Innocents in our new segment, Just Fing Watch it and through out our top 5 assholes in film history.

Episode 7 (Animal Kingdom)

Grab a Fosters and pop in a VHS of Crocodile Dundee as we sit down to review Australia’s latest export Animal Kingdom. Then we have a brief discussion on worst parents in cinema history along with Blockbuster Brantley’s Mini Review of Going The Distance. Then it is time for our first game show, as Lee and Brantley face off to discuss the merits of Kick-Ass. We finish the podcast off by naming our top 5 directorial debuts.

Beers with Get Your Film Fix Ep. 1

The first episode during which we don’t care what we say.  No format, no filters. We simply sit back and riff about movies while sipping down some beers.

xWe run out and see Ricky Gervais new dramady as it finally hits the States on DVD. We talk about the state of comedy in both film and television and list our top 5 small town movies.

Episode 5 (The Expendables)

The Expendables becomes the topic of discussion after its release this weekend.  We talk about another upcoming action movie as well as Tom Hardy in Bronson, Ryan Gosling and who else could become some of the top tier actors out there. Not to mention, our top 5 all-star casts!

In this episode we are reviewing the new gangster classic A Prophet. We have a quick review of The Other Guys and our top 5 ‘rise to power movies’.
